In what is surely the most beautiful memo game, Seemann Fiete invites you to a game of “looking for pairs” in his lighthouse. Behind every porthole of the lighthouse, another exciting memo game with different themes and varying degrees of difficulty awaits you.
In Fiete Match, Fiete is the children’s opponent. In this memo game, Fiete picks up the cards and shows different reactions just like a real player - depending on whether he wins or loses. If you take a little longer to decide, Fiete sometimes even starts to yawn. The memo game in the lighthouse is thus guaranteed to make you laugh :)
This memo game is hand-drawn and can be played at various levels of difficulty. You can set the number of memo cards and also how well Fiete should play. The higher the floor in the lighthouse the trickier the tasks.
In addition to logic, abstraction and memo, this hidden pairs game also offers kids a fun way and train their empathy.

Simple and pleasant, not ideal on standard iPhone
A classic matching game played with Fiete (who is a bit too quick to tell you to hurry up if you don't choose a tile within 8 seconds...). There are three levels of difficulty (8, 12 and 16 squares to choose from) and six categories - the hardest for little ones might be the travel locations (Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower, etc) which asks player to match an outline detail to the larger, more typical scene of a given landmark. Not recommended for standard iPhones (pre iPhone6) as tiles are very detailed and smaller on these screens. Might be better for iPad mini or larger. The interactivity with incidental objects in the game (swinging lamp, phonograph) are more limited than the full Fiete game, but it could be a nice way to pass the time. The scoring is not cumulative, so if you repeat a category you only score per play (the scoring system appears to be a stack of plates - there are no numerals but the plate count does correspond to the number of matches made in the game. One note about the preview images: Otis suggested that there may be a way to always win against Fiete, or always lose, but there is no such setting that I could find).
Another well-made Ahoiii title worth 0.99¢ or less to keep your little one entertained. My opinion it is for the 24+mo set up to perhaps 4yrs.
By FAR the best “memory” game app I’ve found!
Although millions of kids apps use the concept of a memory matching game as one of the elements of their app, this one, which focuses solely on the memory game, rises to the top. First of all, users are playing against an opponent (sailor Fiete himself, who stars in his own series of charming apps) and that opponent sometimes wins and sometimes loses, increasing the pleasure of winning because it’s not a given. One of the most amusing parts of the app is watching Fiete’s reaction after the stacks of winning matches are revealed at the end of each game, indicating the winner. Secondly, there are six different sets of cards users can choose to play with, each with varying degrees of difficulty (from two pictures that match exactly to numbers and sums that match up). Be sure to scroll down to the bottom (under the sea!) to find the parents’ section where users can customize how many cards each game includes (8, 12, or 16), whether Fiete takes it easy on his opponent or makes it very challenging, and turn the sound off or on. The scenery inside the lighthouse changes depending on which set of cards you choose and is sometimes interactive (I especially liked the phonograph near a poster that reads, “Miles Davis” and plays jazzy horn music when tapped).
